The Hands Behind Soltyslabel
The Practice of Making
A small studio in the Blue Mountains.
Days spent moving between motherhood and making. Silk laid beside gathered botanicals. Steam rising from dye pots. Tiny hands wandering in and out of the workbench. The ordinary rituals that slowly become a life.
Nothing here is rushed.
Founded by Australian fashion designer Cate Caldis, SoltysLabel is an independent studio practice where every garment is conceived, patterned, cut, sewn, botanically printed and naturally dyed by hand. From the first length of silk to the final stitch, every stage remains with the same maker, allowing the integrity of the work to stay intact.
Making in this way has become more than a process. It is a practice of paying attention—to the seasons, to the plants, to the child growing alongside the work, and to the quiet transformation that happens whenever we create something with patience.
These garments carry those hours within them.
From one pair of hands to another.
