Winter Solstice Meditation

Use this meditation to inspire any personal or group rituals held to celebrate and honour our winter solstice.

————————-

Find a quiet space where you will not be distracted for 5 or 10 minutes.

Sit in a comfortable position. Close down your eyes.

Breathe in the fresh air deep into your belly, slowly filling your lungs, and then your upper chest. Pause for a moment.

Let your mind and heart soften.

Breathe out of your upper chest, feeling the air leave your lungs, and empty completely out of your belly.

Continue like this for 5 rounds, and feeling the tidal waves of the breath awakening every cell in your body, from the tips of the toes to the crown of your head as you breathe.

Now, this time, when you reach the crown of your head, breathe in again. Imagining a string of shimmering golden light filtering into the body. Pouring down your spine and into the rest of the body, enlivening each cell as it is drenched and enriched with rejuvenating golden light. As it reaches the lower part of the body, feeling the consistency of this golden Iight becoming honey like, filling you up with golden cosmic nutrition. Feel the buzzing frequency that resonates with this moving golden light within you.

Feel the most spacious part of yourself that sits behind all of this movement. The widest aspect of yourself. Sit here for a moment.

Bathe in its empty spaciousness.

What arises in this moment? Allow any feelings or thoughts that arise to exist without pushing them away. Feel deeper into the spaciousness that sits behind and watches rather than interacts.

What is this space saying about your needs, desires and purpose?

———

When you feel as though you have the information you need, give thanks for the ability to tap into this aspect of yourself. Remember that you are capable of serving your highest self and your divine needs.

Give thanks for the support and deep knowing you received here.

Bask in the sensations of being with your whole self, the lightest and darkest parts of who you are, give thanks to all of them.

Finally, come back to center bringing the attention back to the breath. Take the breath deeper – 3 deep cleansing and refreshing breaths. Bring attention to fingers, toes and limbs, wiggling, stretching and bringing attention back to the room while remaining in-tune with this deep inner guidance.
