NEXT WORKSHOP: Sat 9th July 11am - 3pm

Join us for a playful immersion in nature as we celebrate her abundant beauty in this inspiring workshop of connection, exploration and self-nurture.

In this workshop you will be warmly welcomed to our stunning table, laden with natural wonders for you to discover and explore. We will be working with a beautiful collection of Australian natives, exotic botanicals from around the world and common produce that you can find in your everyday kitchen.

Eco-printing is an ancient technique which uses botanical elements such as leaves, barks, flowers, seeds, spices, fruits and vegetables (plus much more natural matter) to apply colour and design to textiles and paper.

The beauty lies in the organic, unpredictable outcome of patterns, shapes and colour. From forage to finish, eco-dyeing is the perfect way to combine the art of play, science and nature into one deeply grounding and connecting experience. Once you have the fundamentals under your belt, eco-dyeing can easily be created in a home environment with very little investment.

We will also discuss and sample a collection of Earth pigments, looking at where to find them as well as how to prepare and apply for textile dying.

Your teacher will guide you through an introduction in eco-dyeing whilst sharing technical information around the science of tannins, mordants, textiles and processes as well as cultural respect and appreciation for the botanicals we will be handling.

At Circa B.C. we are all about self care, nurture and discovery. Playing, being, loving, sharing, creating. To really embrace and embody this love for ourselves, you will receive a pure silk pillowslip for you to eco-dye in class. Something for you to keep, love and rest your head upon for many years to come.

We will begin our workshop with experimenting with small silk and cotton swatch pieces for you to develop an idea of which palettes and patterns you are drawn to. After you’ve created your own swatch collection we will then move on to eco-dye your very own silk pillowslip. Created by you for you.

We invite you to spend the day with us, immersed in the beauty of nature whilst learning a valuable creative technique that is forever yours to expand and build upon.
