Botanical Ecodye Kit
Description
A botanical ritual kit for imprinting silk and cloth with the subtle markings of plant matter, earth, and time.
Designed for slow creative practice and conscious connection with textiles, the Botanical Dye Kit invites you to naturally dye your own silk pillowslip or breathe new life into existing garments through botanical printing and natural pigment.
Each kit includes carefully selected dyestuff, mordant, and instructional guidance to support an intuitive and accessible introduction to the botanical dye process.
Contents:
— Assorted botanical dye flowers
— 50g Iron Mordant
— Hemp String
— Handmade organic silk satin pillowslip
— Instructional guide
The kit can also be used to dye and transform other natural fibre pieces including silk intimates, ribbons, cotton garments, and wool textiles.
Thoughtfully assembled using responsibly sourced materials, the entire kit is plastic free and packaged in reclaimed silk offcuts as part of Soltyslabel’s regenerative studio practice.
Care
SoltysLabel pieces are made from pure silk and coloured slowly with plants. Natural dyes are living colours and should be cared for gently.
Wash only when needed. Often, simply airing your piece in the shade is enough to refresh it.
When washing, gently hand wash in cool water using a small amount of pH-neutral detergent suitable for silk. Do not soak. Avoid conventional detergents, stain removers, bleach, fabric softeners and products containing enzymes or optical brighteners, as these may alter both the silk and botanical colour.
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight when drying or storing. Like all naturally dyed cloth, botanical colours may soften and evolve with time. This is part of their natural ageing.
Store clean and dry, away from direct light.
Do not tumble dry.
Iron on a low silk setting, preferably from the reverse.
With gentle care, your piece is intended to be worn and kept for many years.
Design
Designed with an emphasis on simplicity, movement and the natural qualities of silk.
Each piece is individually cut and constructed in the SoltysLabel studio, allowing the form of the garment and the botanical cloth to exist quietly together.
Considered proportions and minimal construction allow for ease on the body, while leaving space for the individual markings of the cloth to remain part of the design.
Made slowly in Australia.
