What to Expect: the Future of Fashion
Creating a 100% sustainable brand.
The future of sustainability will look different. We cannot keep going the way we have been, if we want to continue to reap Mother Earth’s abundance. She too will run dry.
Yes practices need to change
Yes businesses need to become more conscious and transparent
It feels like a lot to change, a lot to do. Where to begin?
What if it was simple?
It starts with ‘I’.
‘I’ and ‘Other’. The relationship between the two.
What if we could see the universe as one?
And in seeing that, recognise that on a level things may seem separate.
But we can hold an awareness that when we are relating to anything, anyone else. That we are in fact relating with ourselves?
On a level, everything we interact with is a relationship.
Big change starts with our relationship with Mother Earth.
How do we embody this?
With zero waste practices. We treat the earth as we would treat ourselves.
Selvage is included as a design feature to radically minimise waste. Who said fashion had to look a certain way? I find beauty in the rough edge of a fabric reel.
Dyed pieces are made by hand with ecoprinting techniques, using pigments of the earth to make markings rather than toxic chemicals. A free flowing approach is embodied here, as we let go of rigidity, and embrace how nature creates her marks. It is a beautiful practice to bring into daily life. Accepting forms things take even when they do not look how we imagine they should. We can redefine our standards of beauty and perfection, and recognise that these things do not really exist.
Every individual piece is made by hand in Sydney. There are no sweatshops, no underpaid, overworked employees. Instead, behind the label, sits an artisan creating in their own way…
..you could think of it as one would paint an artwork. Slow. Considered.
